02. Introduction
In the digital age, the way people plan their estates has undergone a fundamental transformation. Digital assets—ranging from social media accounts and cloud storage to cryptocurrencies—have become an integral part of daily life. In Europe alone, there are over 3 billion social media accounts and more than 340 million online shopping accounts, many of which become inaccessible upon death¹. Globally, around 2.3 billion people store personal data in the cloud, while over 562 million users hold cryptocurrencies—a figure expected to rise to more than 1 billion by 2030²,³. Solid evidence also points to substantial volumes of unclaimed funds: in Germany, an estimated €2 billion sits in dormant accounts⁴. In the UK, the government-backed Dormant Assets Scheme has already redirected over £745 million to charitable purposes since 2011 and is now being expanded by an additional ~£880 million⁵. These numbers highlight the enormous potential locked in unused digital and financial assets—particularly when heirs lack regulated access. The future Awareo Assistant will enable the efficient, secure, and increasingly automated management of digital estates. Its purpose is to ensure that the wishes of the deceased are carried out with precision while reducing the emotional and administrative burden on surviving relatives. By combining artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, Awareo delivers a solution that is both highly secure and user-friendly. At launch, the Assistant simplifies the structured capture and organization of digital assets (“digital emergency folder”). In its next development stage, the vision becomes reality: assets can be transferred automatically, and contracts can be terminated securely and legally through automation—a critical step toward transparent, reliable, and future-ready estate planning. Through its NFT 500×500 fundraising campaign, Awareo is also establishing an innovative financing structure. This not only provides lifetime access but also the ability to pass that access down across generations—creating a digital legacy of lasting value. Awareo therefore represents a new era of estate planning: one that protects a person’s digital footprint and ensures it is treated with respect, integrity, and sustainability for generations to come.
